Vans is a roughly 4-year-old, 50-pound sweetheart with the soul of an old man. The boarding staff describe him as chill but affectionate—he loves being around people, going for car rides and long walks, then finding a sunny spot to relax.

Vans has spent time in a foster home and has worked with a trainer on building his confidence. He enjoys exploring on a long line, knows “come” and “let’s go,” and loves marrow bones and food puzzles. He’s an easygoing companion who would be just as happy sharing a quiet afternoon as joining you for an adventure.

He can enjoy other dogs when they give him space, but a crowd of excited dogs overwhelms him. His best fit is a home where he’s the only dog, or one with a calm, compatible dog and careful, slow introductions. He would do best with older children. He has recently coexisted calmly with a cat at his boarding facility, though we would want to learn more before calling him cat-tested.

Vans has been through a lot of upheaval through no fault of his own. What he needs now is a steady home, people who will respect his space, and a chance to finally settle in. 🐾
