Tony Bologna

Tony Bologna

“This lovable ~1 year old GSD (mix?) showed up at our house recently with a nylon strap tied around his neck. It was so tight he could barely swallow, and it left some sores which are healing nicely now. It appeared Tony had chewed the strap through on the other end. Our guess he was someone’s “watchdog” and was probably tied to a tree. He also had a few cuts and abrasions on his hind legs, probably sustained during his escape…these are all healing very well. He currently weighs about 65 lbs, but based on his HUGE paws, still has some growing to do.

Tony B is one of the friendliest dogs (both to people and other dogs) we have seen. No defensiveness or aggression that GSD’s can exhibit. Considering he was probably tied to tree most of the time, he seems very well socialized. Being inside a house seemed foreign to him, but he is adjusting well, and is improving his potty habits. He loves playing with our dogs….he has not been exposed to cats…he does show a little interest in our chickens through the fence, but seems very trainable to ignore them.

Tony B has had a full vet visit, including all shots and neutering. He is heart worm negative which suggests he no older than about 1 year (and still possessing some immunity from his mother). He is now on NexGard Plus monthly preventative (covers heart worms, fleas, ticks, hookworm, roundworm, etc.).

He walks very well on a leash. When off-leash, he really just wants to stay close to his humans. He is average energy level for a 1 year old puppy, and has really learned to like Chuck-it or other fetch games.

Our vet said we should keep this dog, as he is so pleasant and easy-going. Other acquaintances of his say they’ve never seen a GSD so friendly! He would be staying with us, but we have 5 other dogs that demand our full attention. Some lucky family is going to get a great dog!”
